Penang govt to disburse over RM10mil as special Aidilfitri aid for state civil servants

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government has approved the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) of 0.75 months salary or minimum RM1,500 to 7,078 civil servants in the state ahead of Hari Raya celebrations.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the amount of over RM10mil in total would be disbursed on April 17.

"The state through its council meeting (MMK) on April 5 has agreed to approve the payment of Special Financial Assistance (BKK) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration of 0.75 monthly salary or a minimum of RM1,500 to state civil service members.

"The special payment is also extended to all local authorities (PBT) and state statutory bodies.

"In addition, BKK amounting to RM300 each will also be distributed to the supervisors and teachers of Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Classes (Kafa), religious primary school teachers (SRAR), secondary religious school teachers (SMAR) and school staff government-aided religion (SABK), tahfiz and Islamic kindergarten teachers (TADIS) as well as teachers and staff of Chinese private schools in Penang.

"The BKK is estimated to involve financial implication of RM10.95mil to the state," he said at Komtar on Thursday (April 6).

Chow added that the move was the state's gesture of appreciation to all members of the state civil service for their unwavering contributions and commitment to realise the Penang 2030 vision to develop a family-focused, green and smart state to inspire the nation.
