No, Syed Saddiq isn't getting hitched – it's an invite to a charity event

PETALING JAYA: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who has been known to set hearts aflutter, is not tying the knot, at least for now.

Social media was abuzz with talk that the Muda president and Muar MP would be getting hitched after he posted an invitation to a Nuzul Quran event on Instagram and many mistook it for a wedding announcement.

In the announcement, Syed Saddiq had invited his Instagram followers to a Nuzul Quran celebration to be held in Muar on Saturday (April 8), saying it would be graced by a special guest of his, Ayana Jihye Moon, who uses the handle @xolovelyana on Instagram.

"I am more than happy to have this Nuzul Quran charity event take place in Muar with my friend @xolovelyana, especially in this holy month of Ramadan.

"Will definitely take her for a tour around Muar to savour all the amazing food," read the caption.

Both Syed Saddiq and model Ayana were wearing maroon Malay traditional attire, which led to speculation that they were a couple and that it was a wedding announcement.

"Ingatkan jemputan kahwin tadi YB (I thought it was a wedding invitation YB," Instagram user @yusufkamarudin said in a reply to Syed Saddiq's post.

"I almost had a heart attack, thought he was getting married," said another one.

Another user said: "Lucky I read it carefully...at first glance, it looked like an engagement invitation...hahaha."

The post garnered more than 17,000 likes and 300 comments.
