Male nurse charged with infant son's murder


IPOH: A male nurse was charged in a Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday (April 6) with the murder of his six-month-old son.

Zahrul Ashrik Zulkaflee, 30, nodded after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Jesseca Daimis, but no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, Zahrul Ashrik is accused of murdering Muhammad Zakir Asyraf at a house in Kampung Kepayang, Fair Park at around 10pm on March 17.

The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death sentence upon conviction.

The court set June 12 for mention.

DPP Nor Syahirah Azahar prosecuted.
