Cops seeking witnesses to nightclub brawl in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are seeking witnesses to a brawl that happened outside a nightclub here.

Deputy Wangsa Maju OCPD Deputy Supt D Saralathan said police detected a video of the brawl on Monday (April 3).

"The 1min, 36sec video was uploaded on Twitter by a user named @nanmanjoi8715.

"Our checks, however, show that no police report was lodged over the incident," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 4).

He added that police were now investigating the matter and gathering intelligence.

"We urge the public to refrain from speculating and spreading the video which could cause public anxiousness," he said.

A similar incident occurred on March 18 near the Kompleks Metro Pudu area.

In that incident, a fight was believed to have started between 5am and 7am and the victim was reportedly beaten by a group of men.

He suffered head injuries and was sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment, but was pronounced dead at 4.40pm on the same day.

The fight was believed to have started over a misunderstanding.

Those with information on the nightclub incident are urged to contact the Wangsa Maju police at 03-9289 9222 or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999.
