FB user arrested over racially provocative post

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man after he uploaded a racially provocative post.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Norsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the 48-year-old man from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, was arrested on Sunday (April 2) over the post that was uploaded on March 23.

The Facebook user has been remanded until Wednesday (April 5) and the case is being probed by the Special Investigation Unit (USJT), she said in a statement on Monday (April 3).

DCP Norsiah urged the people to refrain from using social media or any communications platform to spread and upload provocative statements that could affect racial and religious sensitivities.

"Stern action without compromise will be taken on those who purposely threaten the peace and safety of the public," she added.
