Raja of Perlis undergoes successful leg surgery


KANGAR: Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail underwent successful surgery to repair his right leg and ankle at Putrajaya Hospital (HPj) on Saturday (April 1).

Istana Arau said in a statement on Sunday (April 2) that Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin was in stable condition throughout the surgery, which started at noon and was completed without any complications at 6.40 pm.

"The Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail expressed his gratitude to all the people, especially in Perlis, as well as all relatives and friends who have all prayed to Allah SWT to grant good health and a speedy recovery to the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail,” said Istana Arau.

It said that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also expressed his highest appreciation to HPj staff, including specialists and other health personnel, as well as all parties involved in ensuring the Perlis ruler’s treatment and surgery could run smoothly.

"The surgery was carried out by four orthopaedic consultants and three anesthesiology consultants. Also present at the hospital last night were Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and HPj deputy director (endocrine) Dr Mohammad Khairol Anwar Yusop,”the Palace added.

Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil were also present at the hospital when the surgery was performed.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin’s condition was stable and under control, but he is still under close observation of specialists.

"The people are urged to continue to pray for the recovery of the Raja of Perlis and that he will always be under the protection and care of Allah.

"At the same time, the Regent of Perlis also prayed for the state and its beloved residents to always be protected from harm and be blessed with long-lasting prosperity,” said Istana Arau.
