BATU PAHAT: Police here have detained a local man for allegedly distributing drugs in the Batu Pahat district since early March this year.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the 37-year-old mechanic was arrested in an operation on Sunday (March 26).

He said the joint operation involved officers from the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and Batu Pahat police district headquarters.

“The suspect was caught in the Yong Peng area near here during the operation between 8pm and 11pm,’’ ACP Ismail said in a statement.

He said the suspect had turned his house into a storage place for the drugs before distributing it by using his own car.

ACP Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the suspect has been remanded for six days from March 27 until April 1 to assist with investigations.
