Duo claim trial to disposing of stolen vehicle in KK


KOTA KINABALU: Two jobless men pleaded not guilty to disposing of a stolen vehicle at the Magistrate’s Court here on Friday (March 24).

Mohammad Raqib Abdul Karim, 39, and Ali Rosli Baru, 36, claimed trial before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles.

They were accused of disposing a stolen Nissan Navara at Taman Nelly, Lorong Buah Pala in Inanam near here between 7am and 8am on March 8.

The charge comes under Section 414 of the Penal Code for voluntarily assisting in concealing or disposing of a stolen property, and read with Section 34 of the same Code.

It provides for a maximum seven-year and also a fine if found guilty.

Lovely allowed a RM1,500 bail with two local sureties and also fixed April 28 for case management.

The court also agreed with the prosecution’s request for both the accused to report themselves to the investigating officer once every two weeks.

Insp Kelvan Elson Maik appeared for the prosecution while the men were represented by lawyer Nelson Angang.
