Two killed, five injured as child escapes unhurt in Senai Desaru Highway crash


KOTA TINGGI: Two women were killed while six others were injured in an accident at KM58.3 of the Senai-Desaru Highway here.

Penawar Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Faizal Ahmad said the department received an emergency call about the tragedy involving two cars around 3pm on Thursday (March 23).

"A total of five firemen from the Penawar fire station were deployed to the scene.

"Two of the victims were found stuck in one of the cars. Rescue tools were used to take them out of the vehicle and they were later pronounced dead by medical officers at the scene," he said in a statement here.

He added that four others in the same car, including a child, were injured and sent to a hospital for further treatment.

"Meanwhile, two other adults in another car were also injured and have been sent to a hospital as well," he said.

He also said the bodies of the two deceased victims have been handed over to the police for further action.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora confirmed that the police had received a report on the accident.
