JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Batu Pahat district declined from 1,813 people as at 4pm to 1,086 as at 8pm on Wednesday (March 23).
The State Disaster Management Committee said the 1,086 victims were from 299 families sheltered at 10 temporary relief centres (PPS) in the district.
“Four centres were closed at 4pm while another seven PPS shut at 8pm,’’ it said in a statement.
The SK Seri Medan PPS has the highest number of victims with 265 people from 73 families coming from six villages.
The villages are Kampung Parit Yusof, Kampung Parit Hj Ahmad, Kampung Parit Warijo, Kampung Parit Bangas, Kampung Parit Sendayun and Kampung Parit Seri Pasir.
SK Seri Aman, Sri Gading in Parit Raja has the second highest number of victims with 257 people from 66 families from four villages.
The villages are Kampung Baru Mukim 8, Kampung Parit Parjo, Kampung Parit Bengkok and Kampung Parit Kaspan.
There are 230 victims from 67 families from five villages housed at SK Taman Seri Kota Yong Peng PPS.
They are Kampung Jalan Lama, Kampung Paya, Kampung Temehel, Kampung Batu 1 and Kampung Sedi.
“Two roads in Kluang and one each in Kulai and Muar are non-accessible to all vehicles,’’ said the statement.
The roads in Muar are Jalan Lingkaran Kahang Barat near the FTPSB worker’s hostel and Jalan GSA Chamek at GSA Chamek bridge due to landslides, sinkholes and damaged bridge there.
The Kulai road is Jalan Ulu Tebrau-Sungai Tiram following land while the Muar’s road is Jalan Kangkar Senanga at the bridge there following landslides along the stretch.
