Two die in separate road accidents in Johor


KLUANG: A 34-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a car at KM44 on Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at 1.15pm on Sunday (March 12) when the victim was heading towards Mersing from Batu Pahat.

"A car from the opposite direction, driven by a 63-year-old man, made a sudden right turn, causing the collision.

"The victim was flung from his motorcycle and suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location by a medical team," he said in a statement on Monday (March 13).

The vehicle's driver has been arrested to help with investigations, he added.

"Also inside the car were the driver's 60-year-old wife and 24-year-old daughter. All three of them were unharmed," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road and Transport Act.

In another case in Kota Tinggi, a 71-year-old man was killed during a car crash involving three vehicles at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Mawai.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the incident occurred at 11am on Monday and the investigations on the case are ongoing.

"The victim was killed at the location while his 70-year-old wife suffered a minor injury and is currently being treated at Kota Tinggi Hospital," he said.
