Zahid's, Najib's daughters now Wanita, Puteri exco members

KUALA LUMPUR: The excitement of being elected as a Wanita Umno exco member would push her to serve the party, says Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid.

Nurulhidayah also thanked members for choosing her and giving her the mandate.

“It was extraordinary for me and the excitement will give me the spirit to fight for the party and serve Umno,” said the daughter of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in an Instagram post on Sunday (March 12).

Sinar Harian reported that Nurulhidayah managed to secure 330 votes for the central Wanita Umno exco position during the polls yesterday (March 11).

However, she lost her bid to win the Bagan Datuk division’s Wanita chief post.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s daughter Nooryana Najib was elected as an Puteri Umno’s exco member in the party polls.

She also won the Lembah Pantai Puteri Umno division chief post uncontested.

Former Lembah Pantai division Puteri Umno chief Dr Masliha Harun in a Facebook post congratulated Nooryana.

“Alhamdulillah, congratulations Nooryana for winning the Puteri Umno exco post for 2023-2026 session.

“Also, congratulations for winning and being elected as the Lembah Pantai Puteri Umno chief,” she said today.

Currently, the results are not official and are expected to be announced by election committee chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad once all votes are tallied and tabulated.

The Umno polls are being held from Feb 1 to March 18, with the branch-level elections being held from Feb 1 to 26, followed by the elections for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at the national level on March 11.

The Umno divisional delegates’ meetings and committee elections, as well as contests for seats in the Umno supreme council, will be held simultaneously nationwide on March 18.
