Noraini committed to empowering women following Wanita Umno chief post win


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad has thanked all members for electing her as Wanita Umno chief for the new term.

In a statement on Facebook, Noraini thanked Wanita Umno members and supporters of #SusahSenangBersama, and said she will be fully committed to empowering women to reach new heights.

"Let's continue empowering women and raising them to reach greater things," she said in a post.

On Sunday (March 12), the wing's secretary Datuk Rosni Sohar said that unofficial results showed that Noraini secured 106 votes from 191 divisions across the country, beating Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

On the other hand, official results shown at the party headquarters stated that Noraini secured 48 votes while Shahrizat won 31.

The Wanita Umno wing saw an intense fight with Noraini leading a slim majority against Shahrizat.
