Former Kedah MB Syed Razak Syed Zain passes away


ALOR SETAR: Former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain passed away at his family home in Sungai Petani on Wednesday (March 8) aged 79.

Kedah Umno Youth information chief Syed Mohd Johan Rizal Syed Unan Mashri said that the eighth mentri besar of Kedah passed away at about 11am.

State Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said that the passing of Syed Razak is a big loss to the state, adding that he had contributed a lot to Kedah.

He said the loss is felt not only by his family, but also by the people of Kedah.

Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor also expressed his condolences to Syed Razak’s family and prayed for his soul to be blessed and placed among the faithful.

Syed Razak, 79, was a former Kubang Rotan assemblyman and served as the 8th mentri besar of Kedah from Dec 11, 1999 to Dec 22, 2005.

He then handed over his duties to Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid due to medical reasons.
