KUALA LUMPUR: A woman has been surviving on her savings after she was retrenched from work soon after Covid-19 hit Malaysia in 2020.

But when she was left with slightly more than RM3,000 in her bank account, Anna (not her real name) knew her situation was dire and she accepted an offer as a purchaser whose task was to buy certain products on ecommerce platforms “to boost their popularity”.
