Penang State Assembly adjourns sine die


GEORGE TOWN: The Penang state legislative assembly sitting which began on Monday (March 6) has been adjourned sine die.

During the two-day session, 69 oral questions, 586 written questions, two motions and one bill were tabled.

The bill called 'An Enactment to make provisions for the administration of the Religion of Islam and matters related to it' which was tabled by Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman was debated and approved.

Ahmad Zakiyuddin said the bill was necessary to replace and update the provisions on the administration of Islam in the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Penang) Enactment 2004.

A total of four assemblymen participated in the debate, namely Datuk Muhamad Yusoff Mohd Noor (BN-Sungai Dua), Muhammad Faiz Fadzil (PH-Permatang Pasir), Dr Norlela Ariffin (PH-Penanti) and Azrul Mahathir Aziz (PH-Bayan Lepas).- Bernama
