Penang nominates two to be Dewan Negara senators


GEORGE TOWN: The state assembly has nominated two individuals to be Dewan Negara senators.

Sungai Bakap Hospital director Dr Lingeshwaran R. Arunasalam was nominated to replace Lim Hui Ying, who is presently the Tanjung MP and Deputy Education Minister.

The 36-year-old holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the Royal College of Medicine in Perak and a law degree from Taylors University.

He served as the deputy director and senior assistant director at the state Health Department.

Meanwhile state PKR information head Amir Md Ghazali has been nominated to replace Nibong Tebal MP Fadhlina Siddiq Fadzil, who is the Education Minister.

The 50-year-old was a Seberang Prai City Councillor for six terms and in 2016 was appointed as the political secretary to Deputy Chief Minister l.

He is presently the political secretary to Nurul Izzah Anwar.

The motion was moved by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and was unanimously adopted by the Assembly
