MELAKA: The Melaka Health Department has lodged a police report over an attempt by unknown individuals to solicit funds under the pretence of publishing a bulletin.

Its director Datuk Dr Rusdi Abd Rahman said certain individuals claiming to be representatives of an association linked to the department, had sought funds from business owners allegedly to print a bulletin about their activities.

"We received a complaint on March 2 over the act and proceeded to make a police report," he said on Saturday (March 4).

Dr Rusdi said checks showed there was no such association linked or affiliated to the Health Ministry.

He said the individuals involved had also claimed they were health officers when going around soliciting funds.

"We advise the public to be cautious if approached by anyone claiming to be from the Health Department," he said.

Dr Rusdi said the public can contact 06-235 6999 if they are approached by any groups or individuals seeking funds for the Melaka Health Department.
