Zahid to meet all candidates vying for top posts in Umno polls

KOTA TINGGI: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be meeting all the candidates who are vying for the party’s top posts on Thursday (March 2) evening.

He added that there was a need to meet with the candidates from various parts of the country as a show of support.

“As we know, there has been a lot of interest in contesting the national posts.

“Although the party has decided that the president and deputy president do not need to contest, we still want to be with all the candidates,” he said after visiting flood victims at SJKC New Kota here on Thursday (March 2).

He added that the session would take place at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm.

Umno is in the midst of its internal elections for the 191 divisions and 22,000 branches, which is running from Feb 1 to March 18.

The Umno general assembly approved a motion on Jan 14 for the president and deputy president posts not be contested.
