Authorities scale Bukit Helang to save stranded climber


KOTA KINABALU: A climber who became stranded on his return hike at Bukit Helang, Kampung Kebagu here but was found safe by authorities later after alerting about his predicament on Friday (Feb 17).

Jesson Chong Ken Vui, 37, made the emergency call himself at 5.20pm, saying he could not find his way back on the way down, said the Fire and Rescue Department.

"A team was then sent to the location however the victim was later found safe by the police and civilians.

"After ensuring no more risks on location, the operation ended at 7.35pm," said the Fire and Rescue spokesman.
