Umno has given all necessary details on no contest motion to ROS, says Zahid

PUTRAJAYA: Umno has provided the Registrar of Societies (ROS) with an explanation and details required by the body on the issue of the no contest motion during the Umno general assembly, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said that party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and its legal advisors had met with officials from ROS twice on this matter.

"We have done what is required of us. Now that the ROS have heard both sides, they can make the right decision.

"But I believe that the proceedings at the general assembly were according to the meeting regulations and the party's constitution," he said at the Rural and Regional Development Ministry on Thursday (Feb 9).

On Jan 31, senior Umno representatives met and provided an explanation to the ROS on the passing of the no contest motion.

The meeting was set following the actions of two Umno members who, on Jan 20, had lodged complaints with the ROS to review the additional motion on no-contest for the top two posts approved during the general assembly.
