Cops nab four men over snatch thefts targeting foreigners

SUBANG JAYA: A foreign woman had her sling bag snatched by four men who ambushed her on two motorcycles near Bukit Puchong.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the incident occurred at around 10am on Sunday (Feb 5).

"The woman in her 20s claimed that she was walking home when the four men approached her from behind.

"One of the suspects got off a motorcycle and snatched her bag and a scuffle ensued," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 7).

He said the victim fell after she was pushed and the suspects fled the scene with her sling bag.

"The victim did not suffer any injuries but lost her travel documents, bank cards, cash, mobile phone and house keys. The estimated losses are estimated to be at least RM500.

"Following the incident, a team from the Subang Jaya CID conducted a series of raids on Monday and arrested four men in their 20s," he said, adding that police also seized two motorcycles and nine mobile phones including one belonging to the victim.

He said police have solved at least six wayside robberies with the arrest of these suspects who targeted foreigners.

"The suspects have been remanded to help with further investigations," he said, adding that those with information can contact the Subang Jaya police operations room at 03-7862 7100 or Insp Shahroom Rohaizzad Abd Samad at 014-810 1614.

He assured the public that all tip-offs would be confidential.
