Floods: Situation in Johor improves, only 768 evacuees remain at relief centres


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in the state has dropped from 821 at 8am to 769 at 8pm Saturday (Feb 4).

The State Disaster Management Committee said that the victims are from two districts that are still flooded, namely Batu Pahat and Segamat, with six temporary relief centres in operation.

“The number of victims in Batu Pahat is 743 people from 210 families, while Segamat has 26 victims from nine families,” it said in a statement here.

One river, namely Sungai Batu Pahat in Batu Pahat, is recording a dangerous level of 18.85m from the normal level of 18.70m.

The road in Jalan Sungai Tiram-Ulu Tebrau is still closed for all vehicles due to the landslide.
