THE Arulmigu Maha Mariamman Temple in Sitiawan, which is believed to be over a century old, has finally received its land deed.
Although the plot was allocated to the temple previously, the land deed procedures had not been completed, reported Malaysia Nanban.
On Tuesday, Perak human resources, health and Indian community affairs committee chairman A. Sivanesan met with temple committee members and handed over the deed.
Sivanesan, who is also the Sungkai assemblyman, met with the representatives of the Hindu temples in Manjung during his visit.
During the meeting, he promised issues faced by temples, schools and designated locations for funerals would be resolved by the state government.

Darshit Prakash, five, from Coimbatore, had gone to a relative’s house to play with his cousins.
While there, he saw a soda bottle and drank the liquid inside, which turned out to be insecticide a relative had mixed in the bottle.
Darshit did not mention the incident to his parents when he returned home until he started suffering severe stomach pain a few hours later.
The boy’s parents then rushed the boy to the hospital, but he died soon after despite getting treatment.
