Unity govt will endure if the people are made top priority, says Umno Youth chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government should always prioritise the interests of the rakyat if the current administration is to last, says Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic).

The Umno Youth chief admitted that it was not easy for party members to accept cooperating with Pakatan Harapan and other partners in the unity government.

"Umno Youth would like to remind all our coalition partners in the government, to always prioritise the people.

"Show all the successes and our capabilities together," he said in his policy address at the Umno General Assembly 2022 here on Thursday (Jan 12).

He also urged the Election Commission (EC) to investigate all the petitions submitted regarding alleged corruption and bribery regarding money politics which had gone viral online.

He also praised the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for taking immediate action to probe alleged misappropriation of government funds involving economic stimulus packages during the earlier lockdowns when Covid-19 hit the country.

"Perhaps that's why certain political parties that pretended to collect donations in tin cans to put up flags (during the elections), can spend lavishly in their campaigns and even paid money to outside voters and students," he claimed.
