KUALA LUMPUR: Umno leaders who have been acquitted of their charges should take legal action against former Attorney General Tommy Thomas, says Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic).
The Umno Youth chief said in his policy speech that those who were charged with offences under his tenure should now take action against him.
"He has clearly shown a bad intention; to damage the reputation of Umno and practise selective prosecution," said Asyraf Wajdi on Thursday (Jan 12).
Asyraf also wants the government to form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the disclosures made by Thomas and take strong action against him.
Thomas was appointed as the attorney-general after Pakatan Harapan came to power in 2018.
The government has agreed to a proposal to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the allegations in former attorney-general (AG) Tan Sri Tommy Thomas' controversial memoir.
On Jan 11, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, said the government had agreed to a proposal to establish a RCI to probe the allegations in Thomas' controversial memoir.
She said the decision was made following recommendations made by the special task force investigating Thomas' memoir "My Story: Justice in The Wilderness".
She added that the RCI would focus on finding recommendations to reform the country's legal institution and not to find fault with any particular party.
