Opposition MP urges PM to explain why his aide received top posts at two major corporations

PETALING JAYA: The appointment of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's former political secretary Farhash Wafa Salvador as the chairman of 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd and group executive chairman of Apex Equity should be explained, says Bersatu's Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor.

The Ketereh MP asked the Prime Minister to explain Farhash's appointment as it happened just over a month after Anwar became the prime minister.

"Farhash’s appointments to these positions right after Anwar’s elevation to the PM’s office amounts to a negation of good governance in Malaysia." he said.

7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd on Tuesday (Jan 3) announced Farhash as its new chairman.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said Farhash replaced Datuk Seri Robin Tan Yeong Ching who resigned as chairman on the same day to pursue other interests.

Khlir also hit out at Pakatan over their promises to uphold good governance and integrity in administering the nation.

"We urge Anwar to break his silence over these appointments and explain to the rakyat how these appointments are consistent with good governance or reform.

"The Pakatan supreme council, which has preached these values for years when in opposition, must also explain their stance on Farhash’s appointments," he added.

He also urged the prime minister to reveal whether there will be any more similar future appointments in the pipeline.
