Covid-19 Watch: 420 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 420 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Jan 1), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Monday (Jan 2) that this brings the new total to 5,027,097 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 420, there are three imported cases and the remaining 417 are local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 547 recoveries on Sunday bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 11,871.

Of the active cases, 94.6% or 11,232 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 5.1% of active cases or 609 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 30 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, nine require ventilator support.
