Royal condolences, prayers for landslide victims


PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have expressed their condolences to the families of victims who died in the landslide in Batang Kali, Selangor.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Their Majesties expressed their grief over the tragedy and expressed hope that the victims’ families would be patient and persevere in dealing with the challenges and this sad incident.

“Their majesties both prayed that the souls of the Muslim victims would be blessed and placed among the righteous.”

The King and Queen also expressed their appreciation to the members of government departments and agencies involved in the search and rescue operation.

They hope that the operation will be carried out in a neat and well-planned manner, and they also pray that matters pertaining to the search and rescue efforts be made easy, so that the trapped victims can be rescued immediately.

In SHAH ALAM, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin expressed their sadness and sympathy.

Through a post on Selangor Royal Office Facebook, the Selangor Ruler and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also expressed their condolences to all the victims and relatives of the families involved.

The Selangor Sultan also said that he was shocked and saddened when informed about the incident that claimed many lives.

In JOHOR BARU, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar also extended his condolences to the victims and family members of the landslide.

The Johor Sultan expressed his hope that those involved in the tragedy at the campsite would be granted the strength to get through this difficult time.

“I am deeply saddened by the news.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families at this trying time.

“May they be granted the strength and fortitude to pull through this agonising period,” the Sultan said in a post on his official Facebook page yesterday.
