DAP lawmaker prepares to set aside differences to work with BN

MELAKA: A DAP lawmaker is prepared to set aside differences with his Barisan Nasional peers for the sake of helping the people in the state.

Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong said he used to be very vocal during the previous proceedings of the state legislative assembly, and now accepts the fact that a unity government has been formed in the state with Barisan, just like in the Federal Government.

“I used to 'attack' them, but now I have to respect the formation of the unity state government, but this doesn’t mean I will not raise the the concern of the people, especially those linked to my constituents,” he

said when met after the state legislative assembly sitting onWednesday (Dec 14).

Low said Barisan lawmakers should also ensure that issues raised by Pakatan Harapan are treated with priority and resolved.

“There should be mutual understanding and immediate solutions on grassroots issues forwarded by us.

“I am sure we will have no problems working with Barisan if the issues are addressed,” he said.

Low said he will continue to ask the state government to look into the problems faced by buyers of strata properties in the state.

He said the locals who bought stratified units for residential purposes are burdened with high-value assessment rates, as well as the commercial tariff imposed for water supplies to their homes.

“Many of the buyers opt for strata properties like service apartments due to the location and also the freehold status, which is limited for house buyers in the state.

“These owners were not told by sales agents that some of these strata properties are built on commercial lands and had signed the sales and purchase agreement (SPA) under the Schedule H of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Regulations 1989 which is meant for housing,” he said.

Low said he will also raise the issue of the short-term rentals in residential areas that need the attention of local councils.
