TWO cats are apparently pining for their elderly owner who died about three months ago, Harian Metro reported.

The two pet felines, named Comel and Kembang, have not been their usual self since Aris Nyiat died of liver cancer on Aug 29.

Aris’ son, Fierdaus Aris, said the cats seemed to be depressed and had lost their appetite.

“Comel will lie down on the mattress and wait by the bed that abah used when he was sickly till he breathed his last,” he said.

He said Comel would often sleep on the sarong that once belonged to his father. Kembang had became thinner, he added.

“It spends most of its time going around parts of the house where abah used to work before. When he was healthy, abah would clean the house accompanied by Kembang and Comel. He would carry the cats while pottering around the house,” said Fierdaus, 31, who lives in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

> Kosmo! Ahad reported that a group of firefighters from Bukit Katil, Melaka, had to help bury a man who had weighed 230kg.

The body of the 29-year-old deceased was laid to rest at Kampung Paya Ikan, Melaka, at 12.19pm on Saturday.

The Operation Commander, Senior Fire Officer II Kamaruddin Mat Amin, said they received a call at 11.47am seeking help with the burial.

Six officers were dispatched to the location, he said.

A rope was used to help lower the body and the whole process was completed in about 30 minutes with the help of family members and other people.
