Anwar officially clocks in as Finance Minister


PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has officially clocked in at the Finance Ministry on Tuesday (Dec 6).

The Prime Minister arrived at 7.57am and was met by ministry deputy secretary-general (policy) Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, deputy secretary-general (investment) Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin and other senior officials.

Also present were Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Bursa Malaysia CEO Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift and Securities Commission chairman Datuk Awang Adik Hussin.

Anwar was then taken to the Finance Minister's Office at level 12 for a meeting.

Anwar assumed the position of Finance Minister in his 28-member Cabinet that was announced on Dec 2.

On Dec 5, the Prime Minister chaired a special meeting with his Cabinet.

Anwar was sworn-in as Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister on Nov 24.
