Govt okays foreign worker hires in two subsectors

PUTRAJAYA: The Human Resource Ministry has announced that the employment of foreign workers for the land warehouse subsector is now allowed.

This is in line with the decision of the joint committee meeting between the Home Minister and Human Resources Minister on the management of foreign workers on July 18.

The Human Resource Ministry said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, as the regulatory agency for the wholesale and retail subsector, also agreed to expand the conditions or criteria for the eligibility of foreign worker employment quotas under the subsector to retail traders with a floor area space of less than 2,500 sq m.

Accordingly, the Human Resource Ministry said the new quota application for the employment of foreign workers for both subsectors was now open and applications could be made by employers on the website www.fwcms.com.my.

According to Bernama, further inquiries can be made through its Migrant Worker Management Division at 03-8885 2939/2940 or email oscksm@mohr.gov.my.
