Cops nab man in Iskandar Puteri for taking World Cup bets online


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested a local man for allegedly offering illegal online betting facilities in conjunction with the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said the suspect was detained on Thursday (Nov 24) at 10pm during Ops Soga IX.

"He was arrested at a shoplot in Taman Sri Pulai in Kangkar Pulai," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 25).

Comm Rahmat said police also seized several items used for online betting at the premises.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(3) of the Betting Act 1953.
