GE15: EC to discuss dates of Padang Serai election on Nov 18 following death of M. Karupaiya

PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on Friday (Nov 18) to discuss the setting of important dates for the Padang Serai election following the death of incumbent MP M. Karupaiya.

In a statement on Wednesday (Nov 16), EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak offered the commission's condolences to the family of Karupaiya, who was a candidate for the P.017 Padang Serai seat in the coming 15th General Election.

"We hope the family of the deceased perseveres in facing the loss of their loved one.

"We have received the Election Writ by the Managing Officer there over the death of the abovementioned candidate," he said.

He said the EC would hold a special meeting on Nov 18 to discuss the setting of important dates for the Padang Serai election.

"A media statement will be released following the meeting," he said.
