KOTA KINABALU: Do not try to justify doing something wrong, says Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin to Datuk Rubin Balang.

He said Rubin - who has been seen at campaign rounds with his son Riduan, the Tenom independent candidate - was obviously trying to help his son.

Bung added that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Kemabong assemblyman had tried justifying his son’s move to contest the Tenom parliamentary seat as his son’s own decision.

“Rubin does not have to try to right the wrong and deny that he is campaigning for his son as well,” Bung said.

He also claimed that Rubin had been seen with his son Riduan going to the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Malaysia (KDM) office to hand in Riduan’s membership to join KDM after handing in his nomination papers as an independent candidate.

Rubin's alleged involvement was sparked after he was seen at the KDM office in Tenom when Riduan handed over his membership application to KDM president Datuk Peter Anthony on Nov 11.

He said Riduan’s entry into KDM was a move to fight against Tenom Barisan candidate Datuk Jamawi Jaafar.

Earlier, Bung had called on GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to take action against Rubin for supporting and helping his son in this election but Rubin had justified his actions, saying he was not campaigning for Riduan.

Bung had said that Rubin’s actions were against the GRS-Barisan deal and agreement where all GRS-Barisan members were to help both the coalitions’ candidates win.

He urged voters to choose wisely and reject ‘two-faced’ candidates and insincere leaders.
