KULAI: Police have arrested five men near the Kulai town centre over house break-in cases here.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the suspects, aged from 23 to 28, were arrested between noon and 5pm on Wednesday (Nov 9).
“We arrested five locals believed to be involved in a series of housebreaking cases in Kulai.
“One of the suspects has 16 priors,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 10).
Supt Tok added the police confiscated some items believed to be stolen, namely a PS4, one car, a few branded shoes, two cameras, and a sling bag.
“We are trying to find out if this group has other members out there,” he said, adding that the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking into a house to commit burglary, which provides for imprisonment that may extend to 14 years and a possible fine or whipping.
It is also investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for consuming drugs, which carries up to two years in jail or a fine of not more than RM5,000.
