JOHOR BARU: Police here have arrested seven suspects, including a father and son, and seized 216kg of ganja worth more than RM500,000.
Johor police chief Datuk Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said they carried out a special operation on Thursday (Nov 3) and arrested two teenage boys in Taman Pelangi here at around 10pm.
"Checks on the two suspects found drugs such as ketamine and ecstasy as well as RM5,000 in cash.
"Their arrest led us to an apartment here where we arrested four more suspects including two females," he told a press conference at state police headquarters here on Monday (Nov 7).
Comm Kamarul Zaman said police then raided two houses in Tiram and arrested a 47-year-old, the father of one suspect, and found more drugs.
He added that besides ganja, police also seized ketamine and 30 ecstasy pills, and added that the suspects tested positive for drugs.
Comm Kamarul Zaman said the seized drugs were worth RM542,674 and could cater to 216,199 addicts.
He added that the suspects were under remand until Friday (Nov 11) and are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
