GE15: Peter Anthony expected to lodge police report after nomination papers rejected in Tenom

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president Datuk Peter Anthony will not be contesting the Tenom parliamentary seat as his nomination papers were rejected by the Election Commission on Saturday (Nov 5).

The EC had apparently rejected his nomination papers based on his forgery conviction and sentence on May 26.

He is expected to lodge a police report over the rejection of his nomination papers.

Earlier, a rowdy crowd of supporters caused a ruckus outside the nomination centre, forcing Light Strike Force personnel to fire tear gas.

Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali, Bukit Aman’s Internal Security and Public Order Department director, said the tear gas was fired to disperse the crowd.

He said the situation has been brought under control and no reports of injury were received so far.

“Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah will issue a statement on this later,” he said when contacted.
