GE15: Kitingan to face old foe in four-cornered fight for Keningau

KOTA KINABALU: It will be a four-cornered fight in interior Keningau, with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan set to face an old foe in his bid to defend the seat.

Kitingan, who is Sabah STAR president, will face Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) candidate Datuk Jake Nointin who lost narrowly by 45 votes in the battle for the seat to the former in the 2018 general election.

The other two candidates trying to unseat Kitingan are Parti Warisan’s Rasinin Koutis and Grelydia Gillod of Pakatan Harapan.

Pejuang candidate Mailin Rijan was however disqualified by the Election Commission as he failed to declare expenses for the polls.

Nointin, who was previously with Barisan Nasional component Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, is making his second attempt to wrest the interior hot seat after his first one in GE14 when he stood on a Parti Warisan ticket in a six-way battle for the parliamentary constituency.
