GE15: Dr M faces five-cornered fight to defend Langkawi seat in his 11th polls outing


PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is in for a five-cornered fight to defend his Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The former prime minister will face Datuk Armishah Sirahlj of Barisan Nasional, Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah of Perikatan Nasional and Zabidi Yahya of Pakatan Harapan.

Independent candidate Abdul Kadir Sainudin has also thrown his hat into the election ring.

Returning officer Datuk Abdul Gafar Yahya announced the names of the candidates for the Langkawi parliamentary seat.

In GE14, Dr Mahathir won the Langkawi seat in a straight fight against Barisan’s Datuk Nawawi Ahmad with a 8,893 majority.

This will be Dr Mahathir’s 11th general election outing.
