GE15: Battle of the Brothers yet again - Diva AA to face off against Azmin Ali

PETALING JAYA: Controversial celebrity Azwan Ali will face off against his brother Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for the Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Azwan - better known as Diva AA - had been defeated by Azmin when contesting the Bukit Antarabangsa state seat in the 14th General Election (GE14).

"During GE14, I only received 90 votes and lost badly while Azmin easily won the seat. But at that time, Azmin was representing PKR. But now he is with the new party. The rematch between Azmin and Diva AA will be a much-anticipated one," he said.

Azwan added that despite knowing his chances of actually winning are low, he had decided to join the race due to the support he has received from his fans and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"It's not a matter of winning or losing. Even if I lose in GE15, it will not burden me and my life will continue as normal. I appreciate the relentless support from my fans urging me to go up against Azmin," said Azwan.

"I have also received solid support from another important person, namely the Selangor Mentri Besar and I am touched by his encouragement," he said.

Azwan added that he will be at the Sungai Pusu nomination centre at SMK Sungai Pusu in Gombak on Saturday (Nov 5).

Azwan will be contesting as an independent for the seat against his brother and Perikatan National candidate Azmin as well as Amirudin who is Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the seat.
