Johor cops arrest three for 'rioting' after car gets overturned


PASIR GUDANG: Three men have been arrested by the police here in connection with a fight that broke out following an accident near a petrol station.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident, which went viral on social media, took place at Taman Kota Masai on Thursday (Nov 3).

"The commotion happened after an accident involving a motorcycle and a car where both victims suffered light injuries but were stable.

"Following the accident, a group of unknown men attacked one of the victims by damaging and turning his car upside-down," he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 4).

He noted that police detected the viral videos and took action by arresting the suspects involved in the incident.

"Following information gathered, we arrested three of the individuals involved, who are between the ages of 17 and 24, between 10.45am and noon on Friday," he said, adding that they were arrested around the Jalan Tembikai Taman Kota Masai and Jalan Bunga Raya Masai areas.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 148/427 of the Penal Code for rioting and committing mischief and Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving.

"We are still on the lookout for the remaining suspects who are still free.

"We would also like to remind the public not to take matters into their own hands but leave it to the police to carry out their duties," he said.
