Johor floods: Situation improves in Kota Tinggi


JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor has seen a slight improvement, with all victims in Kota Tinggi now allowed to return home.

According to the Johor Civil Defence Force, the flood relief centre at Dewan Al-Barakah, Kota Tinggi was closed at about 10am on Thursday (Nov 3).

"All 59 victims from 14 families in Kota Tinggi have been allowed to return home as of 10am today.

"Meanwhile, two relief centres in Segamat are still open to provide shelter to some 34 people from 10 families," it said in a statement here on Thursday (Nov 3).

The two relief centres are at Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak and Balai Raya Kampung Kuala Paya.

Several areas in Segamat and Kota Tinggi were inundated with water following a flash flood.

Among areas affected in Segamat include Kampung Seberang Batu Badak, Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Kuala Paya while in Kota Tinggi, affected areas are Kampung Sri Jaya and Kampung Sri Delima.

"As of 12pm, the weather in Kota Tinggi, Johor Baru, Mersing, Kluang, Batu Pahat and Kulai are cloudy," it added.
