KUANTAN: Amanah will contest four parliamentary and 16 state seats in Pahang as part of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
In announcing the candidates on Tuesday (Nov 1), Pahang Amanah chairman Zulkifli Mohamed said the number of state seats contested by the party was up from the 11 contested in the last general election.
He added that Amanah was fielding candidates from the professional and corporate sectors, which he felt would give formidable competition to Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.
As announced earlier, Amanah's parliamentary candidates in Pahang are Ahmad Azam Mohamad Salleh (Paya Besar), Ahmad Shuhor Awang (Maran), Juhari Osman (Kuala Krau) and Mohd Hasbie Muda (Temerloh).
Incumbent Temerloh MP Anuar Tahir was absent from the lineup, which deputy party president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub reportedly attributed to the former's ill health.
Amanah's candidates for Pahang state seats are: Ruzi @ Nata Yusuff (Padang Tengku, N03), Mohd Abd Jawaad Abd Ghafar @ Razmin (Dong, N08), Mohd Abd Talib Mohd Tahar (Tahan, N09), Norani Muhd @ Mohd Arshad (Pulau Tawar, N11), Zulkifli Mohamed (Beserah, N12);
Sabrina Md Yusuff (Tanjung Lumpur, N15), Muhammad Ibrohim Mazalan (Lepar, N18), Tugimon Abdul Hamid (Peramu Jaya, N21), Ibrahim Sulaiman (Bebar, N22), Nor Hisham Mohd Suki (Chenor, N26), Ahmad Arif Md Daud (Kerdau, N28);
Jamaluddin Abd Rahim (Jengka, N29), Azizul Shah Mohd Noor (Kuala Semantan, N32), Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri (Pelangai, N36), Noraini Abdul Ghani (Guai, N37), and Mohd Fadzli Mohd Ramly (Tioman, N42).
Amanah did not win any state seats in Pahang in 2018. Its Pakatan allies DAP won seven and PKR two, out of the 42-seat assembly.
