Two men arrested for alleged drug trafficking in Perak


IPOH: Police arrested a man for alleged drug trafficking after he was caught distributing drugs worth an estimated RM161,542.50 by the roadside at Bidor here on Oct 29.

Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the suspicious-looking 22-year-old man was arrested at 9.15pm with a bag believed to contain methamphetamine and heroin.

"A follow-up operation was carried out in Teluk Intan, which led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man believed to be involved in this case.

"Their urine tests turned out positive for methamphetamine and both had previous criminal records relating to drug offences.

"Under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture) Act 1988, a car valued at RM15,000 was also confiscated," he said at a press conference here on Monday (Oct 31).

Mohd Yusfri said the suspects have been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday until Nov 5 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - Bernama
