IPOH: The decision to remove party members for disciplinary reasons is a normal thing, says Mohamad Sabu.

The Amanah president said the removal of party members was not something unusual among other parties including PAS.

“Before this, in the old PAS, former president the late Datuk Asri Muda had some disciplinary action taken against him,” he told reporters at the Jelajah Mega Harapan Perak at Pasar Tambun here on Sunday (Oct 30).

Mohamad who is also fondly known as Mat Sabu, was asked to comment about the removal of former Kedah Amanah chairman Datuk Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi from the party after he allegedly violated the party’s constitution.

Is it learnt that Phahrolrazi was unsatisfied with the party's decision to let DAP contest the Jerai parliamentary seat during the 15th General Election (GE15).

On Oct 29, Pakatan Harapan announced that Kedah DAP deputy chairman Zulhazmi Shariff would be contesting at Jerai, which is the only parliamentary seat DAP is contesting in Kedah.

Separately, Mohamad also denied any feud between Amanah and DAP on the Changkat Jong state seat in Perak.

“The final say is that DAP will be contesting in Jerai parliamentary seat and Changkat Jong state seat.

“Amanah has no issue on that, and we have no problem for DAP to contest at both seats,” he said.

On Oct 28, both DAP and Amanah had announced their candidacy for Changkat Jong.

In the morning, Amanah Perak chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi announced Muhaimin Sulam as the party candidate while DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke made an announcement that Badrul Hisham Badarudin would be the party candidate later in the evening.

Pakatan Harapan president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 30 then said that the Changkat Jong seat would be contested by DAP following a meeting that was held a day before with Pakatan electoral committee which included Mohamad, Loke and other leaders.
