JOHOR BARU: The list of candidates representing Barisan Nasional in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) will be announced in a unified manner in the next few days, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
"All Barisan Nasional component parties have come to an agreement to announce everything together in a unified manner. MCA will also reveal details of its candidates in two to three days time, we wait until then," said Dr Wee.
"It is already rather obvious who are the potential candidates but everything will only be confirmed once the announcement has been made," the MCA president added.
Dr Wee said this after attending the Johor South Chinese Press Club's 39th anniversary dinner and the swearing-in ceremony of its committee members here on Saturday (Oct 29).
He was responding to questions from the press on seats that the party will be contesting in Johor.
Dr Wee also noted there have been no discussions on seat swapping in Johor for GE15 so far.
"What is important is not when we announce the candidates but how we can win the seats," he added.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the event, the Transport Minister also said that the media should not be blamed for carrying out their duties in reporting news and the grievances of the people.
"I have openly said that if I am not doing something right or you think that it is not perfect then please correct me. You can even give comments, I am open to them," said Dr Wee.
"I think politicians should not put the blame on the media. If there is a mistake, then correct it. We can convey the message and clarify it," he added.
He added that the media needs to be looked at positively and appreciated, rather than thinking that the press has ill intentions.
Dr Wee then said that he appreciates the role of the media.
Apart from Chinese media representatives, the event here was also attended by community leaders, associations and politicians from both the Government and Opposition.
During the event, Dr Wee also greeted attendees from Pakatan Harapan including Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong, state PKR vice chairman Jimmy Puah and Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) vice-president Steven Choong.
Also present was MCA Youth chief Nicole Wong, Pekan Nanas assemblyman Tan Eng Meng and Bekok assemblyman Tan Chong.
