GE15: Muda announces three new candidates


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance has announced the names of three candidates who will be contesting in parliamentary seats in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The announcement was made during a Muda event in Petaling Jaya on Saturday (Oct 29) by its secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz.

In the press conference Amira confirmed that negotiations with Pakatan Harapan have concluded and that Muda and PH have formed a clear electoral alliance for GE15.

The three agreements that the young party and Pakatan have agreed on were that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the coalition's candidate for prime minister and that Muda and component parties of PH will not overlap seats.

She added that Muda will use the party's flag and logo for GE15 before announcing the candidates.

The first candidate is Danial Abdul Majeed, 26 who will be contesting against Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican for the Kepala Batas parliamentary seat.

Danial is a native of Penang has served as a volunteer around the state including in Georgetown, Jelutong and Kepala Batas.

"I believe that the people of Kepala Batas should be given opportunities and space to prosper for the betterment of themselves and their families," he said at the press conference.

The next candidate is Muda Center co-founder and executive committee member Cikgu Rahayu who will be going against Tan Sri Noh Omar for the Tanjung Karang seat

"I strongly believe that everyone should get an equal education as it is a right we are all born with. I pledge to ensure that every Kelapa Batas child is able to get a proper education that will help them in their future," she said.

The final candidate to be announced on Saturday was lawyer Lim Wei Jiet who will go against Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng for the Tanjung Piai seat.

"It is a difficult and challenging seat," he said.

Lim added that he hopes to focus on the issues of job opportunities and introduce the many talents and assets that Tanjung Piai has to the world.

It was also said that there will be more seats announced in the coming days, with one possibly in Sabah
