GE15: Wong Tack may be booted from DAP over decision to defend Bentong seat, says Loke

MELAKA: Incumbent Bentong MP Wong Tack will have his DAP membership automatically revoked if he defends his seat as an Independent candidate, says party secretary-general Anthony Loke.

Loke told Bernama this after Wong expressed his intention to do so when the party replaced him with deputy Youth chief Young Syefura Othman in the parliamentary seat.

Loke said Wong was given the option of contesting the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat but had rejected the offer.

Meanwhile, Loke said state DAP vice-chairman Khoo Poay Tiong would defend the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said Khoo was nominated for his excellent service in the constituency besides also having a good attendance and participation record in Parliament.

"He is careful and transparent in managing constituency allocations and never discriminates when serving his constituents,” he told reporters after launching Pakatan Harapan’s Kota Melaka machinery here on Thursday (Oct 27).

In GE14, Khoo won Kota Melaka with a 49,174-vote majority against Eric Choo Wei Sern (Barisan Nasional) and Goh Leong San (Independent).
